![]() Renewable Energy ConsultantsRenewable Energy Sources (RES) are a non-fossil energy sources, namely wind, solar and geothermal energy, wave energy, tidal energy, hydraulic energy, gases, resulting from landfills, sewage treatment and biogas, as defined in the Directive 2001/77/EC. These are the first forms of energy used by man. In the early 20th century by catalytic evolution of the discovery of large oil reserves, the world shifted decisively to the use of renewable sources, mainly coal and oil. Two were the key factors in the resurgence of interest in renewables, starting from the mid 1970's. The first was the issue of energy security. The two oil crises of 1973 and 1979-80, led the industrially developed countries to reconsider their absolute dependence on fossil fuels, especially oil. The second factor which led to the complete restoration of APE is, of course, global warming issue, which, especially in recent years has become a top priority for the international community. The energy sector is primarily responsible for environmental pollution, as nearly 95% of air pollution leading to global warming due to the production, transformation and use of conventional fuels. The main advantages of using renewable energy are:
The development of the RES in Greece, has followed in the last twenty years a steadily increasing but is still significantly less than the efficient utilization of available capacity. The development of renewable energy during this period was almost exclusively initiated by independent producers who successfully exploited the system of guaranteed prices (FIT) and capital grants which instituted the state as financial incentives for the development of the sector in the country. Major impediments in developing the RES were complicated licensing procedures, condition and design development of power transmission networks and lack of relevant spatial context. Despite all the efforts made to eliminate or reduce them, these factors continue to negatively impact the efforts of the national broad use renewable resources. So the market is still far from being designated developed or mature. VisionTask in penetration of applications viable and sustainable development, created the part of RES to study, research and deliver the development of renewable energy in our country, focusing mainly on photovoltaic systems, small wind turbines, investment in biomass while considering its participation in other renewable energy technologies such as small hydro stations and geothermal systems. |
